It’s nice to keep learning, and heaven knows we have a lot to learn when starting something new like internet marketing, but relaxing like Larry and never taking action doesn’t bring the money in, and isn’t that the reason we’re working at it?
Some people actually spend years just reading how to do it pieces of information and following mentors (who may be good), but never doing what they’ve learned.
As I’ve suggested about choosing a mentor (a key to getting a solid business started and developed), if you even start down the “wrong path’, at least you can learn what went wrong and quickly fix it.
My free 8 Steps guide can help you get started but you’ve got to get off your butt and do something just to get some momentum and not staying “in school’ and never graduating – remember your time is expensive and the longer you dawdle the longer you’ll remain broke.
Make yourself a promise that first thing Monday morning you’ll start applying what you’ve learned, even if it’s just the first step like choosing a niche – and don’t spend more than an hour on this.
Since it’s something you’re interested in you can quickly find one thing that is of interest and can solve a problem for someone in that niche, like what they can do to get rid of that slice from the tee if golf is your niche.
Write an article on that – don’t worry about what you’ll do with it, just get your habit of writing started. You can even get fancy and pick a free image to go with it – there are many to choose from online.
I recommend making a quick website that only has a title and minimal graphics Buy a domain name from Namecheap for about10 bucks and a cheap hosting package like Hostgator to give it a place on the web.
If that sounds daunting to you, there are plenty of ways to have it done for you, or to show you how to do it. I’ve got some info on that to get you going – just ask me firstname.lastname@example.org .
With a basic website you’ll see something of yours right on the web to get your creative juices flowing.
